Quick Start

From zero to a working, earning integration. This page is the overview; each step links to the full guide.

How it works

Preads is a self-hosted offerwall and monetisation platform. You embed an offerwall on your property; your visitors complete offers from the offer networks Preads works with; Preads records the resulting conversions and credits your balance.

Balance updates; your postback notifies you
Your postback is a notification, not a trigger. The conversion is recorded and your balance is credited before your postback is sent. If your endpoint is unreachable, you lose the notification but not the money. Only approved conversions pay — a conversion sitting at pending pays nothing.

Getting started

1 Create your account

Register as a publisher. You need a name, email address, a password of at least 8 characters with mixed case and a number, and you must accept the terms of service.

Registration page — or sign in if you already have an account. Note that your operator may disable registration or require email verification before first sign-in.

2 Create an app and wait for approval

Go to Apps and create an app for the property you want to monetise. Its API key is generated immediately and is shown on the app's detail page.

The app does not work yet. New apps are created pending. Until an administrator approves it, a valid key is refused with 403 App not found or inactive and a mistyped one bounces visitors to the home page. Budget for this wait, and do not launch before approval.

While you are in the form, read the section on the exchange rate. It is the number of your currency units per one US dollar, and getting the direction wrong silently corrupts every reward your users see.

3 Choose an integration

For most properties use the offerwall iframe — one tag, no server code. Choose the offers API only if you need to build your own interface. If you want to gate a page or a link instead, use a locker.

4 Embed the wall and pass a userId

Add the iframe to your property, replacing the API key and the user ID. Every visitor must get a distinct, stable ID of your choosing.

Do not skip the user ID. Without it the wall renders and looks completely normal, but every offer click fails silently, nothing is tracked, and you earn nothing with no error shown. This is the single most common integration failure.

Offerwall Iframe explains why.

5 Add a postback

Set a postback URL on the app so your own system learns about conversions. It is optional — Preads credits your balance either way — but without one you have to poll for conversions instead.

Postbacks are unsigned, so validate them against your own records rather than trusting the request. Note also that Content and Link Locker conversions never post back.

Postback Setup has the macro reference and the caveats.

6 Verify before you launch

Work through this list in order:

  • App approved? Open the wall URL directly with your API key. If you get 403, it is not approved yet.
  • Offers visible? Rewards on the wall should be plausible numbers for your currency. If they are absurdly small or large, your exchange rate is inverted.
  • Clicks tracked? Open the wall as a logged-in user, click an offer, and confirm the visit left your site. If the new tab shows an error instead, your userId is missing or contains unsafe characters.
  • Postback delivered? Send a test from the app's Postbacks section and confirm your endpoint receives and parses it.
  • Reports moving? After the first real conversion, check Reports → Conversions and your balance.

Test postbacks are excluded from your reports, so this step will not distort your figures.
