Link Locker

Where the Link Locker sits, and who can do what with it.

The Link Locker is a publisher tool, not an advertising product. There is no advertiser-facing screen for it, it does not consume your balance, and you cannot buy one.

Who can manage lockers

Role Can do
Publisher Create, edit, view and delete lockers, and view locker statistics. Lockers become active immediately — there is no approval step for them, unlike ad campaigns.
Administrator List, view and delete lockers, change their status, and review and reverse conversions. Administrators cannot create or edit lockers.
Advertiser Nothing. There is no advertiser-facing link-locker creation screen.

Addressing

Each locker is addressed by a UUID generated when it is created. Visitors reach it at a single URL:

https://preads.hansaldev.com/link-locker/YOUR_LOCKER_UUID/show?uid=YOUR_USER_ID

The uid you pass is how the locker knows which visitor is unlocking. Without it visitors are grouped by IP address, which means one person unlocking unlocks it for everyone sharing that network. Full detail on the publisher page.

Redirect behaviour

  • On unlock the visitor is sent to the locker's redirect URL, which is a required field.
  • A fallback URL is also required and is shown on the locker page as an alternative destination.
  • If the locker is embedded in an iframe, the redirect loads the destination inside the frame rather than replacing the top-level page.

Themes

Link Locker themes are built in — classic, modern and glass. Unlike the Content Locker, your operator cannot publish custom templates for link lockers, so a publisher cannot restyle one beyond choosing between them.

Conversions and moderation

  • Locker conversions are recorded and reported, but are not associated with a specific app.
  • Locker conversions never send a postback.
  • Reversing a link-locker conversion does deduct the amount from the publisher's balance — the opposite of the Content Locker on this build.
  • At most three offers are ever offered per locker, regardless of the required conversion count.

Integrating a locker

Full integration guidance is on the publisher-facing page: Link Locker.
